ABOUT THE WEBINAR

On 20th June, 2022, IFAD Strategy and Knowledge Department will host its Food4Thought series of monthly learning events, with the very first event dedicated to Climate Adaptation Capital!

Appetites are growing for “Carbon Mitigation Market 3.0” potential post CoP26.  Adaptation, and its monetization and investment potential, on the other hand,  does not resonate with the vast majority of non-specialist investment and finance actors. At best they see it as a classic “Wicked Public Good” problem for Governments to sort out and, at worst, adaptation in a climate sense is an alien dialect.

The guest of this session will be Paul Clements-HuntChief Executive Officer, The Blended Capital Group and the session will cover:

  • Advocating, educating, reeling private capital into adaptation.
  • IFAD mobilizing capital at scale into last mile resilience and boosted agri-productivity
  • Leveraging the three “Magic Instruments” of the CoP26 Article 6
  • Think different: Food Security & Nutrition Performance-related bonds, Triple Next Impact Funds, Multiline insurance for agri infrastructure, creating capital market safe harbours

For three decades Paul has worked across business, the United Nations, and civil society, to drive the sustainable finance agenda. In March 2012 Paul left the UN to establish The Blended Capital Group, a corporate and investment sustainability advisory company.
