Kenya hopes to spur banana growing, launches National Banana Strategy

Africa Science News (Oct. 25, 2013) | Kenya on Wednesday launched the National Banana Strategy in Nairobi. The strategy is hoped to coordinate the sector to benefit farmers. Launching the programme, Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Development said the Ministry and other stakeholders will train both extension service providers and banana producers on banana, agronomic and management practices, with special emphasis on integrated crop management systems to mitigate the frequent outbreaks of pests and diseases.
