India: Tap rain for irrigation

Post Noon (June 25, 2013) | Financial analysts consider the monsoon and agriculture output as the most important aspects for the GDP growth of the country. However, with global warming, there are disturbances in the natural cycle of seasons and rains. In this scenario, the farming community of the country, who mostly depend on vagaries of monsoon, faces a tough time for their water needs. Agriculture experts believe that there is need to build sustainable and long term methods, which can utilise rainfall for the irrigation needs.
