Hurricane Could Cost Jamaican Agriculture $1 Billion

Wisconsin AgConnection (Oct. 30, 2012) | Around 11,000 farmers are thought to have been affected by Hurricane Sandy as it swept through Jamaica last weekend. Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Ian Hayles, says early estimates indicate that close to 11,000 farmers across the island have been affected by Hurricane Sandy, with some 1,500 hectares of crops “totally destroyed”, reports Jamaica Observer.
