Agribusiness: Uganda develops new maize variety

Afriquejet (Aug. 7, 2012) | National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) is developing a new maize specy that is resistant to pests and can stand harsh weather conditions. This is still under evaluation to see whether it will yield good returns to farmers. “We are developing a new maize species that is drought tolerant and susceptible to diseases. We hope farmers will benefit from this innovation”, said Mr. Robert Anguzu the Public Relations Officer NARO secretariat.
