Kenya expects bumper maize harvest

Afrique en Ligne (Nov. 16, 2011) | Kenya’s Ministry of Agriculture is projecting a bumper maize harvest by the end of year with 36 million bags expected to be in circulation in the country and ensuring there is no food shortage, according to the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Romano Kiome. Speaking Tuesday in Nairobi, Dr. Kiome said the ministry currently has 14 million bags in store and is optimistic of high harvest, given the favourable weather conditions in grain growing regions.
