India: Flood-hit farmers register losses

The Times of India (September 22, 2011) | Flood-hit farmers on Wednesday thronged the agriculture extension officers in Kendrapada, Marshaghai, Garadapur, Aul, Rajkanika and Mahakalapada to register their losses and seek financial assistance. As many as two lakh farmers have lost Rs 7,000 to 10,000 per acre of cultivated land. There was a huge deposition of silt on jute, sugarcane and paddy crops after the floodwaters receded.
