Africa Science News (Feb. 17. 2011) | A new report released by the UN environment programme shows that massive amounts of phosphorus— a valuable fertilizer needed to feed a growing global population—constitute the highest soil losses recorded in Africa, constituting close to 0.50 tonnes per hectare a year.
