ABOUT THE WEBINAR

Today’s food systems are facing challenges in delivering healthy diets—reducing hunger and undernutrition while addressing a rapid rise in obesity and diet-related non-communicable diseases on the other.

Food systems play an important role in securing nutritious and healthy foods for all, environmental sustainability, jobs and social inclusion.

In order to do so, different actors must better align actions across sectors to transform the system. This entails increased awareness and understanding of food system actors, their interests, priorities and the potential of multi-stakeholder platforms.

IFAD’s Nutrition team has organized a side event associated with the 8th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), to discuss challenges, showcase lessons learned and explore solutions and opportunities to bolster healthy diets and sustainably transform food systems. The panellists represent different actors: civil society, UN agencies, research organizations, private sector and government institutions.
