ABOUT THE WEBINAR

In late December 2022, 120 nations signed a global agreement on biodiversity (COP15). While conserving 30% of global lands and waters by 2030 has become the headline goal, it is only one of 23 targets that include important objectives – many of which are strongly dependent on CGIAR research and action. This seminar will briefly review the goals, helping to translate them for Nexus researchers, and discuss implications and opportunities for research and development activities. Speakers will share their experiences of engaging with multiple research, indigenous and political actors in support of the global agreement, with the aim of improving CGIAR engagement in the Global Biodiversity Framework. They will also share the progress being made on the IPBES Nexus Assessment on Biodiversity, Food, Health, Water and Climate, and invite attendees to participate in the assessment and its review.
