ABOUT THE WEBINAR

Event objectives

Climate change impacts disproportionately harm women and expose social and gender inequalities across the globe. At the same time, women taking up their rightful roles to co-design solutions is essential to successfully transforming food systems to boost their resilience and to achieve greater progress toward resilience, food and nutrition security, and well-being for entire communities.

This high-level dialogue on gender and climate change in Africa builds on the development of CGIAR’s new Initiative on Gender Equality, which is designed to address challenges to gender equality in food systems in times of climate change. This dialogue will examine these challenges and will explore solutions with gathered experts and stakeholders to feed into the upcoming COP27 deliberations on how to improve gender equality for greater climate resilience.

This event is the first dialogue convened by the Initiative on Gender Equality, and it will be followed by annual events at each of the initiative’s regional hubs to engage directly with research and development partners.
