Jan Kerer

Jan Kerer is a risk management expert with more than 12 years of experience in rural and agricultural development in Africa and Asia. He has been working for GIZ for 9 years as an advisor and, then, project director in Indonesia, Nepal, and China. Since 2011, Mr. Kerer works as a consultant and is currently based in Switzerland.

Mr. Kerer has extensive experience in carrying out policy analysis and providing advice on improved risk management strategies for Ministries and Regulatory Authorities, for example in Kenya and Uganda. He has carried out feasibility studies on agricultural risk management and has assisted in the establishment of both the public and private sector is driven initiatives on agricultural finance and insurance in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. Mr. Kerer has been involved with the establishment of the Platform for Agricultural Risk Management (PARM) in 2013 and has supported their fieldwork in Uganda since early 2015.

Prior to his engagement in international development, Mr. Kerer worked as a management and corporate finance consultant in Germany. He holds an MBA from Vienna University of Economics and Business.
