Dr. Franck Galtier

Dr. Galtier is a French senior researcher economist at the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD), with 20 years’ experience in agricultural markets in developing countries and a special interest for grain and coffee markets. His research topics encompass market institutions, market networks, quality signs (such as sustainability standards, geographical indications, etc.), market information systems and policies to improve markets’ performance or make up for their failures. During the past years, he has worked extensively on two main topics: food price instability (analysing its causes, consequences and the ways it can be managed both within developing countries and on international markets), and the new generation of market information systems (MIS) that have emerged in developing countries in the 2000s. Franck has lived in West Africa and the Caribbean and is currently based in Montpellier, France.
