The scope of the Project was to develop soil and water conservation practices that produce forage for the livestock of hillside small holders. Building on the outputs of a previous project (R6621), live barriers of grasses and legumes have been established at nine on-farm sites. The sites are all in the Bolivian mid-Andean valley region that is characterized by being high (up to 4000 masl); dry (usually less then 500 mm of rain per year) and cool (average temperatures around 8??C).
