Live export deaths total almost 15,000 with Middle East the deadliest route

News Limited (Feb. 24, 2014) | Almost 15,000 cattle and sheep died during live animal transportation last year, according to new data released by the Department of Agriculture. More than 14,000 deaths were sheep and an increase in cattle exports of 24 per cent between 2012 and 2013 saw cattle death rates jump from 681 to 830.
